A small plane collided with another aircraft on the taxiway at Kalispell City Airport in Montana, prompting a swift response from police, the sheriff’s office, and firefighters. Authorities are still investigating, with no details yet on injuries or the types of planes involved.

On Monday afternoon, a dramatic crash unfolded at Kalispell City Airport in Montana when a small aircraft caught fire while approaching the runway and struck a second, stationary plane on the taxiway. The impact triggered a massive fireball and thick black smoke that could be seen across the area.

Witnesses reported that the first plane burst into flames just before impact, with the fire quickly spreading to the runway’s infield. Video footage captured the fiery explosion, sending a towering plume of smoke into the Montana sky.

Remarkably, the incident resulted in only minor injuries—two of the four people aboard the burning plane were treated at the scene. The second plane was unoccupied at the time of the collision, according to Kalispell Fire Chief Jay Hagen.

Emergency crews, including the Kalispell Police Department, Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, and local fire units, responded within minutes. The cause of the crash and the aircraft types remain unconfirmed, but the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation.
