Sonu Nigam is overjoyed with the overwhelming praise for his rendition of Pardesiya in Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor. In this exclusive interview, the legendary singer opens up about the heartfelt love ballad.
Sonu Nigam has been on a remarkable musical streak over the past year, delivering chart-toppers like Mere Dholna in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Papa Meri Jaan in Animal. “Now, Pardesiya is receiving so much love,” he said with a smile.
The veteran singer expressed deep admiration for composer duo Sachin–Jigar, with whom he has worked only occasionally, but always with memorable results across various languages. “When they sent me this song, I instantly knew it was special,” Sonu recalled.
Sachin–Jigar’s Magical Touch
Praising the composers, Sonu described the working atmosphere as “beautiful and respectful.” He added, “Sachin–Jigar are wonderful souls with great camaraderie. There was no conflict — only positive interactions. They’ve loved me since their younger days, back when they were assistants to Rajesh Roshan ji. This song has truly shaped up beautifully.”

With a career spanning more than three decades and hundreds of iconic songs, Sonu Nigam’s legacy is etched in gold. At this stage of his journey, the 52-year-old prioritises quality over quantity when selecting projects.
“I don’t sing for just anyone,” he admitted. “But my strong bonds with companies, artists, and composers sometimes make it hard to say no, even if I feel the project may not be top-tier.”
However, Sonu believes he’s fortunate to receive only strong offers. “A good song is a good song — and thankfully, people approach me when they have something worthwhile and truly value my contribution. I don’t get average songs anyway, so I rarely have to choose. Good songs just find their way to me.”
Most recently, Sonu released his new single Kahani Meri on his birthday, July 30, and is gearing up for his seven-city Satrangi Re India Tour.
