SPORT

The 2025 Ballon d'Or nominations have been revealed, and once again, both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are absent from the list. This guarantees a first-time winner will be crowned this year. Nominations for all other award categories were also announced.
Signaling a true shift in the footballing landscape, both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have once again been left out of the 30-man shortlist for the 2025 Ballon d'Or, despite impressive seasons with Inter Miami and Al Nassr, respectively.
This year's nomination list features standout names like Ousmane Dembele, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Kylian Mbappe, Cole Palmer, and Mohamed Salah. Among them, Dembele and Yamal are emerging as frontrunners for the prestigious award. Notably, no past Ballon d'Or winners—including current holder Rodri—have made the cut, ensuring that a brand-new winner will be crowned this year.
France Football Magazine also revealed the nominees for several other major honors, including the Ballon d'Or Féminin, Club of the Year, the Kopa Trophy (for best young player), and the Yashin Trophy (for best goalkeeper).
